Folks, the Western Grebe continues at the foot of West Street in Oakville. It swam to within 50m while we (2 other birders & I) stood at the lookout over the lake. The bird is diving a lot so be patient, it must have moved over 500m back and forth in the 20 minutes that I was there, most of the time between West St. and Bronte Harbour (to the east). Also here were 50+ Red-necked Grebes (many calling loudly & displaying), a female Hooded Merganser, 4 fly-by Tree Swallows (in -5C weather) amongst the regulars.
Cheers & good birding, Frank Pinilla Richmond Hill, ON DIRECTIONS: Bronte Harbour (Oakville) Lookout: From Toronto and points east of Oakville, take the QEW to Bronte Road, take Bronte south to the Lakeshore and then go west on Lakeshore to West Street (not West River St, mistake I made). Go right to the end there is a lookout there at the end, beside Bronte Cemetery. From Hamilton you can exit at Burloak and then go east on Lakeshore Road to West Street. ----------------------------- Sent from My BlackBerry Wireless
