Hey all. Bit of a late posting. Yesterday (Friday) afternoon I had the
most impressive flock of longspurs I have yet to see in my life. Most male
birds had almost acquired their full breeding plumage by this point while
the few Snow Buntings on show were a bit behind in molt. I have yet to ever
see a flock of winter buntings, etc. where the Lapland Longspurs outnumber
any other species by a good 10-1 !!! Purple Finch #'s in Mac Gregor Park
are good (ie. 25+ with very little effort).

Also, the # of birds on the roadside while driving over the last 2 days has
just blown me away. Horned Larks and more importantly, Dark-sided Junkos
have easily #'d in the thousands. Everything is out looking for food stuff
since the snow blanketed most of the area north west of Guelph. Very
impressive.

Directions: Field on east side of #33 (county rd.?) just 3 or 4 concessions
south of the southern most right turn into Mac Gregor Prov. Park (from #33)
as you are headed south.

Cheers,

Andrew Keaveney
