This morning at 8:45 I spotted a SWAINSON'S WARBLER at Thickson Woods. Had a nice long look at the bird as it jumped around in the undergrowth just inside the entrance and caught another brief look about twenty minutes later near the top of a small tree along the first trail that leads west inside the entrance to the woods.

Other warblers seen in the woods include Black and White, American Redstart and what I think was a Magnolia warbler.

Also this morning I went to the East platform at Cranberry Marsh. On the mud flats were Black-bellied plovers along with Lesser yellowlegs, Killdeer and spotted sandpipers. In the open water, was an immature Wood Duck, an immature Black-Crowned Night Heron, a Great Egret and many Great Blue Herons.

There was little activity visible from the boardwalk at Lynde Shores Conservation Area but last night I saw a Short-billed Dowitcher, feeding beyond the mudflat that lies to the South of the boardwalk. This area has been good for Shorebirds but bring a scope ( the more powerful, the better )

Directions: For Thickson Woods, exit the 401 at Thickson Rd. Drive South on Thickson. The woods will be on the left-hand side.

For Lynde Shores: Exit the 401 at Brock St. Head South on Brock to Victoria. Drive West on Victoria. The parking lot for the conservation area will be on your left. The boardwalk and the East Platform for Cranberry marsh can be accessed from here.
