A friend and I were at Deschene Rapids today and noticed what appears to be a male American Wigeon with a female mallard.
For those who are familiar with Dechenes Rapids this bird was noticed in the area in front of the far east parking lot and from the dried up area just below where many of the geese and ducks tend to gather. I have posted it on my site at http://www.pbase.com/catherinegardner/image/86843811 . We noticed this bird around noon and it was still there at about 1:15 when we left. Directions to Dechenes Rapids. Ottawa River Parkway east from Carling, parking lot will be on your left side just past the Lincoln Station (before Woodroffe). Ottawa River Parkway west from downtown, parking lot will be on right just past Woodroffe exit.
