Visitors:
Visitors this morning were many....but most came and went without see too
many raptors. Visitors today from the greater Windsor and Leamington
areas, as well as the Metro area of Michigan. And Lisa and John from
Indiana.
Weather:
A crisp fall morning in the marsh. Temps started at 7.2 C and peaked at
14.6 C. Clear skies until mid day. Winds very light began from the north
but changed to west and finally south during the day.
Raptor Observations:
Turkey Vultures dominated the day after a slow first couple of hours.
Mixed in with the vulture kettles were a fair number of Red Tail Hawks, and
some Red Shouldered Hawks. One Rough Legged Hawk was noted today, and a
single male Norther Harrier.
Non-raptor Observations:
The marsh was a chorus of bird song the first couple of hours with the Red
Winged Blackbirds, Blue Jays and many more vocalizing. Blue Jays, Red
Winged Blackbirds, and European Starlings were moving in large numbers
today. Several flocks of starlings were noted that were well into the
thousands. A lone Monarch Butterfly was see from the tower.
