Further to Ron Fleming's post of November 3, Richard Pope and I went to look for the Pine Grosbeaks at the north end of Kenendy Road today without success. However, when we went on to Willow Beach, just west of Jackson's Point on the south shore of Lake Simcoe, we found a pure flock of 25 trilling Bohemian Waxwings flycatching from a small leafless ash tree at #840 Montsell Ave., about 100m south of the lake. We then drove some of the streets just east of there and came across two separate flocks of Cedar Waxwings mixed in with American Robins, but no more Bohemians. Woodlots and fields in the area held large flocks of starlings, robins, cowbirds, and Red-winged Blackbirds.
