Today (December 15) during the Barrie CBC Nigel Shaw found a Barred
Owl in our area at about 16:15. We were able to get great looks at
this bird as it sat a a wire next to the road. We watched it for
several minutes before it flew north across the road and into some tress.
The owl was seen on Big Bay Point Road about 0.3 km west of 20 Sideroad
Directions
To get to the site exit Highway 400 at Mapleview Drive and go
east. Continue east for 8 kilometres to 20 Sideroad and turn left
(north). Follow 20 Sideroad to Big Bay Point Road and turn left
(west). The owl was seen about 0.3 km west of 20 Sideroad. (note
Big Bay Point Road is closed between Yonge Street and Hurst so direct
access is not possible via Big Bay Point Road)
