The 64th Carleton Place CBC was held on Thursday December 27th. The weather was mild but the snow on the ground was about a foot deep and it started snowing at about 11 a.m. and continued for the rest of the day.

28 field observers and 31 feeder watchers counted 42 species and 5011 birds, both below average.

There were no new species found but one record high: Pileated Woodpecker (15).

Wild Turkeys were first reported on our count in 2001. We had 158 this year (not a record) but now they are becoming feeder birds - 5 of our 31 feeders reported them.
