Today at 2:15PM there was a very white Snowy Owl in the corn stubble N/E of the intersection of Hwy 42 (north\south road 1st East of Bragg Rd) and Concession 4 which runs EAST from Hwy 42. The owl was surprisingly easy to spot in the bright sunlight, and appeared much whiter than the snow which looks bluish.
The Pine Grosbeaks (45 or more) continue to feed in the crab apples north of Concession St E and east of Bragg Rd. They are often very quietly sitting in the trees about 80 yards north of the road. Extremely easy to photograph. Every 20 minutes or so they get up and fly around, or if the Sharp-shinned hawk makes a pass, they may disappear for half an hour or more. There are often many Redpolls in the orchard, but I’ve not seen any Hoary Redpolls. No virus found in this outgoing message. Checked by AVG Free Edition.
