A day trip to Amherst Island started with a heavy snow squall and a cold wind. The weather improved as the day went on and the birding was good. Highlights included:

26 Raptors

  11 Red Tails
  9 Rough Legs (mostly dark morphs)
  2 Harriers
  2 Kestrals
  1 Long-eared Owl
  1 Short-eared Owl

27 Tundra Swans
Lots of Redpolls including one Hoary
Lots of Gadwalls and Common Golden Eyes
1 Northern Shrike
4 Pheasants
Lots of Turkeys
Lots of Snow Buntings
1 upside Downy
