Hello Ontbirders,

After a very successful couple of days birding west of Ottawa; Bob Cermak and I
tried the east today. We started the day at the Embrun lagoons. The HORNED
GREBE (in great plumage) is still there along with PIED-BILLED and four
WILSON'S PHALAROPE. Also present there were a couple of RUDDY DUCK. Not to
mention countless midges.

Onto St. Albert lagoons where we had a VESPER SPARROW singing near the
entrance. Within the Lagoons, 8 BLACK TERN and a SANDERLING in with a good
amount of DUNLIN, SEMIPALM SANDPIPERS and another WILSON'S PHALAROPE. As well a
WILLOW FLYCATCHER. Also noted was a singing HOUSE WREN on a nearby road .

We did stop at Casselman to visit High Falls and it should be noted the gate to
the falls is closed at the moment so be prepared for a walk. Around the
entrance though it was nice to see a handful of CLIFF SWALLOWS. At Casselman
lagoons we had a great look at two WHITE-RUMPED SANDPIPERS, more of the same
shorebirds and a few N SHOVELER. AM. WIGEON also present here.

Lastly we braved the deer and horse flies for some birding along the roads in
Larose forest. CAPE MAY Warblers are singing on territory. In addition to 8
more common warblers we had a CANADA. A good bird for the area for sure was a
singing OLIVE-SIDED FLYCATCHER located along Indian Creek road near the
intersection of JGL Logging road. BLUE-HEADED VIREO, ALDER FLYCATCHERS and
HERMIT THRUSH also singing in the area but we may not have gotten the best
cross-section of singing birds given we were there in the afternoon.

Below are the directions to the above mentioned locations.

Good birding,
