Highlights of reports received June 5 through June 12 from the Niagara Frontier Region include FISH CROW, CLAY-COL. SPARROW, GRASSHOPPER SPARROW, YELLOW-THR. WARBLER, YELLOW-B. FLYCATCHER, BLACKPOLL WARBLER and probable ICELAND GULL.

Back on May 25, in Niagara Falls, New York, a report of a FISH CROW at the aquarium on Whirlpool Street. Attempts to relocate have not been successful; FISH CROW is a species not yet documented in the BOS archives.

June 10 and 12, a CLAY-COL. SPARROW, very rare in Erie County, in the Town of Lancaster, singing at the northeast corner of Ransom and Westwood Roads. Three GRASSHOPPER SPARROWS this week in uncut fields on Francis Road in the Genesee County Town of Bethany. June 9 in Niagara County, VESPER SPARROW on Kayner Road at the Town of Royalton Ravine Park.

June 8, 18 summer warbler species in Allegany State Park. Rare YELLOW-THR. WARBLER plus PINE WARBLER and CLIFF SWALLOW again this year at the park Administration Building. PRAIRIE WARBLER at the west entrance and the end of Wolf Run Road. Sixteen of the 18 warbler species were found along Wolf Run, Perimeter Road and Park Road 3, with RED-SHOULDERED HAWK, YELLOW-BILLED CUCKOO, BARRED OWL, PILEATED WOODPECKER, 4 ACADIAN FLYCATCHERS, WINTER WREN and SWAINSON'S THRUSH.

Migrant YELLOW-B. FLYCATCHERS still in the region through June 8. Found in Chautauqua County at the old railroad bed off Allegany Road in Hanover, on Finley Road in Portland, and 2 YELLOW-B. FLYCATCHERS on Chautauqua Road in Pomfret with YELLOW-B. SAPSUCKER, ACADIAN FLYCATCHER and 5 HOODED WARBLERS. In Genesee County, YELLOW-B. FLYCATCHER June 7 and 8 in the Town of Alexander.

June 8, a late migrant BLACKPOLL WARBLER and an unexpected MOURNING WARBLER in a yard in the Town of Wilson. At the Wilson Pier on Lake Ontario, 20 COMMON TERNS plus 3 CASPIAN TERNS, a surprising count for a non-breeding location. June 12, a probable ICELAND GULL was reported again on Lake Ontario in Wilson.

Also this week - a pair of MUTE SWANS with 3 cygnets on Lake Gibson at Beaverdams Road in the Thorold, Ontario. The previously reported TRUMPETER SWAN at the lake has not been seen since May 22. In Alexander, 47 SEMIPALM. SANDPIPERS still in the yard swamp on Gilhooley Road. RED-HEADED WDPKR. plus WOOD DUCK with young at the mouth of Cattaraugus Creek in Hanover. And, 2 PROTHONOTARY WARBLERS in the Tonawanda Wildlife Management Area, to the west of the Meadville Road bridge.

Dial-a-Bird will be updated Thursday evening, June 19. Please call in your sightings by noon Thursday. You may report sightings after the tone. Thank you for calling and reporting to Dial-a-Bird.
