This week it seems that the migration has come to an end. It has been a long
time since those first Horned Larks showed up in February. The last of the
shorebirds were 10 Dunlin, 6 Least and 2 Semipalmated Sandpipers on Amherst
last Sunday and 5 Dunlin and 6 Semipalmated on Tuesday. The last sighting of
a Marbled Godwit was last Friday. Also on Amherst last Tuesday were 3 Brant
and 3 male Greater Scaup.

Some of the less common local breeders reported this week included a pair of
Blue-winged Teal on Amherst Island (these ducks seem to be much harder to
find than in years past), Yellow-throated Vireo and Golden-winged Warbler on
a breeding bird survey near Bellrock, a Black-crowned Night-Heron at
Millhaven, 3 Common Nighthawks south of Newburgh, as well as 2 Orchard
Orioles, 3 Willow and 1 Alder Flycatcher on Amherst.

I will give this report a summer holiday and return in August when the whole
process repeats in the opposite direction. Have a great summer.

Cheers,

Peter Good
