Hi Ontbirders,
Today, 7 Nov, on a trip to Kingston, Debbie Campbell and I stopped at the
Dupont Plant/Elevator Bay about 2 PM to scan the waterfowl in the bay. We
were pleasantly surprised to observe a Snowy Owl sitting at the end of the
short rocky breakwater that extends on the east side of the bay beyond the
old elevator pier. The owl was at the outer (south) end of the breakwater
adjacent to a small light beacon on a concrete base. We observed it from
about 2:15 to 2: 35 when we left the area. In our excitement, we did not
find the male Eurasian Wigeon.
Happy birding,
Peter Campbell
Ottawa, Ontario
Directions: The Dupont Plant is on Lake Ontario towards the west end of
Kingston, past Kingston Penitentary and suburban Portsmouth along King
Street West. The bay is on the east side of the Dupont property and the old
elevator pier marks the east side of the bay.
