Hi Ontbirders:

The Hawk Owl, first reported on Dec. 1 in Gatineau, Quebec on the Ottawa River
was still present as of 11:00 am today. It was perched on hydro lines running
parallel to Hurtubise Boulevard, just to the east of #1073 and several red
barns. The bird was not there when I first arrived at 10:30, but I was told by
Dave Moore who was present that it had been there very shortly before I
arrived. As I was pulling away at 11:00 it was suddenly present on the wires
for about two minutes then it flew away when I turned the car around. It
appears that this is its favourite perching spot, but it does move about in the
surrounding woods and shrubby field.

Good birding
