Ontbirds subscribers,

On a late afternoon visit to Humber Bay Park, I saw both the Killdeer and Great
Blue Heron mentioned earlier as seen on today's OFO trip by Dave Milsom. They
were both standing in the warm water outflow from the east bank of Mimico
Creek, just south of the Lakeshore Blvd. W. bridge over the creek. A little
further north on Mimico Creek, just north of the abandoned strip mall, were
another Great Blue Heron, an immature Black-crowned Night-Heron and a Winter
Wren. One can access this area by following the west side of the creek from in
behind the abandoned strip mall just west of Mimico Creek on the north side of
Lakeshore Blvd. W. (staying on the creek side of the new fenceline where land
is being cleared for yet more condominium construction).

A little south of the white bridge connecting the east and west halves of
Humber Bay Park, a Common Yellowthroat responded to my pishing near the large
Phragmites stand. In the strong winds at the time, it did not stay out in the
open for very long. A Yellow-rumped Warbler was also seen in the pines on the
south perimeter of the Humber Bay Park East parking lot.

Humber Bay Park and the mouth of Mimico Creek are found just south of the
intersection of Lakeshore Blvd. W. and Parklawn Rd. in south Etobicoke.
