Hello ontbirders, Just getting this out there as I have not seen any recent reports of Snowy Owls in Ottawa. I rarely have a day off with work but I was out this afternoon and saw a Snowy owl on the Northeast quadrant of Fallowfield and Woodroffe in Nepean. There is a horse farm here so the area is hard to miss. Apparently the Owl has been around for a couple of days now as family members that live there saw it yesterday as well. Hopefully it sticks around so people can have a look. I hope everyone is coping well with these winter storms and cold temperatures. Happy holidays to you all.
Sincerely, Jay Peterson Britannia, Ottawa Directions: You can access Fallowfield road from the east via Highway 16 (Prince of Wales) or from the west via the 416. Woodroffe runs from Carling Avenue to Highway 16. FYI: be careful if you do need to stop in this area. It is well known for horrendous traffic, so if you stop, do take haste. The owl was on top of a telephone pole on the northeast section of Fallowfield/Woodroffe. _______________________________________________ ONTBIRDS is presented by the Ontario Field Ornithologists - the provincial birding organization.
