Since the original post was on OntBirds, I feel I should respond openly here.
I would like to make it clear to all that whatever Karl said, he has very graciously apologized and asked for our forgiveness, and I am sending him a private e-mail with that forgiveness. I don't say this to embarrass him but to commend him. I too have said things that I later regretted and it takes a lot of courage to say what he has said privately. I only wish I had been as faithful in my making amends. I just hope he is not receiving a whole lot of unpleasant e-mails because of this, and that is one thing I would like to prevent. If we all responded in the way he has since his post, what a better world this would be. Alex.
