Hello All,
Went to Colonel Sam Smith park this afternoon in search of the immature male
KING EIDER. I wasn't disappointed; he was very cooperative and quite close
to shore, albeit farther than he was in previous reports (He wasn't sitting
on the shore). He was in the same place he was reported previous times: The
most north-easterly bay, putting on quite a show; preening, chasing
Goldeneyes and Mergansers and diving for mussels.

The SNOWY OWL was sitting on the docks in the Marina, quite far off. A scope
is recommended.

Amongst other things, there were several of the usual Lake Ontario wintering
waterfowl, including a WHITE-WINGED SCOTER in the western bay close to the
point. There was also a very cooperative male AMERICAN KESTREL, sometimes
hovering within a few feet of observers.

Directions:

Colonel Samuel Smith Park is located at the end of Kipling Ave. in the west end
of Toronto. From the QEW take Kipling Ave. south and continue past Lakeshore
Blvd. past Humber College to the large parking area at it's very end closest to
the lake. Walk east (left facing the lake) until you come to the most easterly
bay.
