We had an another incredible trip to Ontario and Cape Vincent, NY
March 1 - 3, highlighted by a white-morph Gyrfalcon, 5 species of
owls and other winter raptors, including wonderful looks at Great
Gray Owl, Northern Hawk Owl, and Boreal Owl, 2 Hoary Redpolls (1
Greenland race, 1 Southern race), and more. A list of the highlights
of the 50 species observed is below. We covered Amherst Island (3/1),
Wolfe Island (3/3), and the Dunrobin and Almonte areas near Ottawa
(3/2) in Ontario, and the Cape Vincent and Point Peninsula areas in
New York (3/3).

Bald Eagle - 3 Ivy Lea (3/3)
Northern Harrier - 4 Amherst (3 - 3/1), Point Peninsula (1-3/3)
Red-tailed Hawk - 33
Rough-legged Hawk - 35 mainly on Amherst Island (3/1), Cape Vincent
and Point Peninsula (3/3)
American Kestrel - 3
Gyrfalcon - 1 adult white morph Wolfe Island Ferry (3/3)
Iceland Gull - 1 first-winter Amherst Island Ferry (3/1)
Snowy Owl - 9!!!! Amherst (5 - 3/1) and Wolfe (4 - 3/3)
- 1 adult male, 4 immature males, 1 adult females, 3 immature
females
Northern Hawk Owl - 1 Vaughan Sideroad near Upper Dwyer Hill Rd.
