On Thursday at about 5:30 p.m., I found and photographed a beautiful
Red-bellied Woodpecker in High Park, not far from Bloor Street across from the
High Park subway station.  I spent some time at the duck ponds with the Wood
Ducks, observing and photographing about three pairs exhibiting lots of
courtship behaviour and followed around by a couple of bachelors.  A
Black-crowned Night-Heron flew in to roost while I was there.  I finally left
at dusk, accompanied by the song of White-throated Sparrows.
High Park is on Parkside Drive: Take the Lakeshore exit coming from the West
on the Gardiner, or the Jameson exit coming from the East.  TTC:  Accessed by
the Keele and High Park subway stations on the Bloor-Danforth line.
