May 18, 2009 Light winds out of the south did not bring in many new migrants into the Park today, but still a good number of warblers and other migrants distributed through the Park. At the tip there were 2 RUDDY TURNSTONE and a pair of WARBLING VIREO. BLACK-BILLED CUCKOO was reported from the south end of the Woodland Trail. The Tilden Trail produced several male SCARLET TANAGER, a singing MOURNING WARBLER at the intersection with Shuster Trail, TENNESSEE, NASHVILLE, NORTHERN PARULA, CHESNUT-SIDED, YELLOW, MAGNOLIA, BLACK-THROATED BLUE, YELLOW-RUMPED, BLACK-THROATED GREEN, BAY-BREASTED, AMERICAN REDSTART, COMMON YELLOWTHROAT and 3 male CANADA WARBLERS. A CONNECTICUT WARBLER was reported singing east of the Visitor’s Centre in the weeping bed area. Just in is a sighting of the BLACK SWIFT first sighted on May 17th. The Swift was again observed flying over the parking lot of the Visitor’s Centre flying north.
