Sorry for the late post (it's a long story). Birding on Carden is in all its splendor these days. We were there Saturday and had:
- great looks at sparrows (Grasshopper and Vesper in scope; also Clay-coloured) on Wilie Rd. - a snipe on a fence-post in classic pose - saw a shrike - used directions in Jean Irons/Ron Pittaway post of May 22 (on McNamee Road, 1.3 kms. east of Shrike Road, south side, and well back of the road; a scope is adviseable) - heard Sedge Wrens at the marsh - terrific looks at bluebirds, bobolinks, upland SP (only one)....on Wilie Rd. - at small marsh at top of Prospect Rd., had a Sora out in the open for 15 minutes and heard Virginia Rail there - red-shouldered hawk - a small number of warblers With more time, I'm sure we would have seen more. Please see May 22 posting by Ron Pittaway and Jean Irons for reference to route directions, birding site guide and maps (thanks Ron!).
