We relocated both the American White Pelican at Second Marsh in Oshawa and the American Avocet at Pringle Creek in Whitby the afternoon.

The American White Pelican was roosting on lightly vegetated sandbar 300 meters straight out from the nearest viewing platform from the GM office parking lot. It was about the same size as nearby Mute Swans and it took about 5 minutes for its bill to appear making it obvious.

The American Avocet was feeding in Pringle Creek about 100 meters upstream from Brock St. near roosting gulls.

Directions from Rayfield Pye:

American Avocet : Exit from the 401 at Brock St. in Whitby. (exit 410)
Go south on Brock St. to the bridge.

American White Pelican : Exit from the 401 at Harmony Road in Oshawa (exit 419) Go south
on Farewell St to Colonel Sam Drive. Go east on Colonel Sam Drive to the
GM Canada headquarters. Park in the lot on the west side of the building.
