Raptor Observations: The 7th or 2-3PM hour was the best today with a total of 30 for the hour. The hour before and after that was 10 each for the hour. The other hours were less then that. The count should be at 68 for the total day, with a high of 33 Sharp-shinned Hawks. A total of 12 Northern Harriers was also nice to see. Non-raptor Observations: Swallows and some purple martins were (and expectedly) abundant over the count today, including rough-winged, tree, barn, cliff, and bank swallow. >From the count site, blackburnian and Cape May warbler were noted, along with a handful of bobolinks and about 20 chimney swifts before the 6th hour. A common loon flew over. Ruby-throated hummingbirds numbered approximately twenty before 6th hour. Predictions: Weather for Wednesday is to be about the same as it was today, Mid to upper 70's and life East or South-East winds. Flight should be about the same. Weather today was clear visibility with very light winds. Winds were around 0-8MPH all day. Cloud cover was 0-25% all day. ======================================================================== Report submitted by Greg Norwood ([email protected]) SMRR- Lake Erie Metropark information may be found at: http://www.smrr.net/ _______________________________________________ ONTBIRDS is presented by the Ontario Field Ornithologists - the provincial birding organization.
