A number of people helped spot the raptors today, so a big thanks to all who helped spot and point out all of the raptors today. Weather: Visibility was hazy to clear all day long. At first the wind was around 0-6MPH and from the West mostly. Then it seemed to change to the South-East and was about 3-6MPH. Then late in the day they were close to 3-6MPH but more from the East or North-East. Raptor Observations: Today was the best day of the season so far. 10,486 Broad-winged Hawks went over today. Three hours had over 2,000 Broad-winged Hawks. A nice flight of 69 American Kestrels was fun to see. Non-raptor Observations: A good Blue Jay flight went on early. Around 300 birds went over. Several warblers went and flew in early in the day. Not to much was going besides the raptor flight. Predictions: The wind should be a little faster Wednesday and more from the North. The flight should pick up a little more then today's. ======================================================================== Report submitted by Seth Cutright ([email protected]) SMRR- Lake Erie Metropark information may be found at: http://www.smrr.net/ _______________________________________________ ONTBIRDS is presented by the Ontario Field Ornithologists - the provincial birding organization.
