Raptor Observations:
In summary, it was a very exciting day for raptor migration at Holiday
Beach. Excellent flight of Broadwings today with the greatest numbers
between 0900 and 1200 EST (3,405) and again between 1400 to 1600 EST
(3,473). Remarkable number of Kestrels(145) passing in small pulses most of
the day. Equally as exciting was a burst of Merlin activity in the last 2
hours.
Non-raptor Observations:
11 species of waterfowl,
American Bittern- 1,
Black-crowned Night-heron- 2,
Bald Eagle- 5 locals,
Shorebirds included American Golden-Plover(2 juvs. in AM), Killdeer (16),
Greater(3) and Lesser(1) Yellowlegs, Soliatary Sandpiper(1), and Wilson's
