Seven Juv. Long-billed Dowitchers present this evening. One of the most numerous shorebird species present! A Merlin flew by twice, which may have been the cause for low numbers. A large variety of ducks also present.
Below are some old directions posted for this site on ontbirds: but be warned! There are two lane ways close to the bridge. Do NOT go down the pathway with waste concrete spilt at the end - you will get stuck in a thicket of bushes and poison ivy! (At least I did)... Go down the pathway with the open gate - it is a grassy ATV trail. You will come to a spot where the fence is abnormally high from the ground. At Wolfe Island today, Bob Stamp and I had a Greater White-fronted Goose and a Cackling Goose on private proprety. At least its a heads up they're around. All the best! Brandon website: www.peregrineprints.com Directions: From Hwy. 401 take exit 599 (County Rd. 6, Odessa) south on County Rd. 6 to Taylor-Kidd Blvd. Turn left (east) on Taylor-Kidd and drive approx. 1 km watching for a lane on your right after crossing railway overpass. This is the entrance to the lagoon. If you're coming from Amherst Island, drive east on Hwy 33 approx. 9 km. and then turn left on County Rd 6. Continue north about 1.5 km and turn right (east) onto Taylor-Kidd Blvd _____________________________ or To go to the Amherstview sewage lagoons, follow Taylor-Kidd Blvd. west out of Kingston (Taylor-Kidd Blvd runs parallel to the 401 from Kingston to Millhaven, ON). Take the last road that branches off Taylor-Kidd to the left just before you come to the bridge that crosses the CN rail tracks. _______________________________________________ ONTBIRDS is presented by the Ontario Field Ornithologists - the provincial birding organization.
