For those who helped count and look for raptors even a bigger thank you... Weather: Visibility was clear at times, but also not as clear other times with rain on and off. But a lot of the birds later in the day came right over so good looks at most were had. Wind was around 10-25mph so at times hard to see or use a scope in that kind of wind. Raptor Observations: Only spent 5 hours at the count today because of the rain and weather. But still had just over 2,000 Turkey Vultures. It turned out to be a better day then what I thought it would be with the on and off again rain and stronger North-East winds. Two Northern Goshawks were counted today, along with a good flight of Red-tailed Hawk, (89), and Red-shouldered Hawks, (45). Non-raptor Observations: A flock of about 10 Forster's Terns and about the same number Bonaparte's Gulls were around the count area today. More Dark-eyed Juncos were also seen, and good flights of both Blue Jays and American Crows were seen. Predictions: Looks like a chance of no rain and slightly less wind for Friday, so it could be a good day. It also might be kind of cold so the flight might wait until later in the day when it gets a little warmer out. ======================================================================== Report submitted by Seth Cutright ([email protected]) SMRR- Lake Erie Metropark information may be found at: http://www.smrr.net/ _______________________________________________ ONTBIRDS is presented by the Ontario Field Ornithologists - the provincial birding organization.
