This afternoon (Tuesday, ca. 3:00), two male Barrow's Goldeneye were in the
Rideau River near the south end of Riverain Park, with a male hybrid nearby,
the latter tending more to the Barrow's end of the spectrum (all in full
breeding plumage). These in the midst of numerous Common Goldeneye.

Directions: from the 417 take the Riverside/Vanier exit north (just east of the
Rideau River). After several hundred yards go left [west] at the lights on
Donald; continue on Donald to North River Rd. where you turn left [south] and
drive to the end; park; walk over to the river. The Goldeneye were seen
there this afternoon (but may be found as far downstream [north] as the slack
water below the rapids at the tennis club in the middle of Riverain Park).
