It's a bitterly cold Sunday morning, fellow birders; the kind of wind that
makes your eyes water.
More good news to report, I've just spent an hour watching Mr. P. actively
feeding, vocalizing and capturing the early morning, sun rays. He was quite
busy devouring the rose hips, clearly his preference compared to the buckthorn
berries. Once again, I was fascinated by his ability to harvest the rose hips
at the extreme end of some very thin branches; they must be better
tasting/riper for he will forego the hips that are closest and easiest to
pluck.
Mr. P. was sighted in 'his territory' in the backyard adjacent to # 20 Ascot,
where Sue welcomes everyone into her backyard. Shirley at # 8 Aberdeen
continues to do the same. They are super people.
Good luck and good birding.
Directions:401 to 410 north, exit Steeles Ave. east, turn north onto Dixie Rd,
turn east onto Birchbank, turn north onto Avondale Blvd., turn east onto
Addington, turn north onto Ascot, turn east onto Aberdeen, # 7 Aberdeen is the
location of the log/guest book, coffee etc.
Dian P.S. to Barb in Ottawa, thank you very much, I did finally find come
untreated mistletoe and berries ( a very small amount) but although
strategically placed in a favourite, spot they have been untouched. Thank you
again.
