The 33rd Burk's Falls CBC was held on Thursday, December 17 by 13 field = observes and one feeder watcher.
The temperatures ranged from minus 22 C at dawn to a high of minus 15 C.= During the day of the count Lake Bernard went from almost completely= open to fully fozen over. A total of 30 species of birds were oberved, down from the average of 36= for the past decade, but the same as the all time average. A total o= f 1359 individuals which is half the average over the past decade. Specific Comments: Lack of winter foods, berries, cones, nuts resulted in low number for ma= ny species.
