Hello birders.
  Yesterday Pat Hogge and I birded 50 Point Conservation Area. At the tip of 
the park that juts into Lake Ontario were a great many diving ducks including 
Common Merganser, Golden Eye, Long-tailed, Harlequin and White Winged Scoter 
plus others I couldn't identify because my eyes were tearing up so bad and my 
scope kept blowing over.  It is extremely windy and cold at the point so dress 
in your down-filled, fleece, thermal and sheepskin clothing, preferably all at 
once and before you leave the car. Sorry for the delay in posting; I have 
finally thawed out today.  Also in the park: a hardy Kestrel at the tip and a 
Cooper's Hawk beside the baseball diamond.  The tip is accessed by the interior 
road. Fifty Point Conservation Area is located at 1479 Baseline Rd. Winona just 
west of Grimbsy, a stone's throw off the QEW. Exit at 50 Road (or where you see 
the flocks and flocks of ducks and geese flying back and forth).
