Hey Ontbirders. While driving home from the Algonquin CBC I saw a bird out of
the corner of my eye that made me stop the car and promptly tell my girlfriend
to "get your coat on, we're walking back!". A NORTHERN HAWK-OWL sat
emotionless in a smaller tree in a vacant lot/field just before the exit
(traveling southbound on the 400) to Georgian College. The field was just
south of a very tall radio/cell tower structure on the west side of the hwy.
Lev Fried and a friend happened to see the two of us standing out there on
their way back from Algonquin and stopped to take some photos too - a lifer for
Lev!
This all happened between 3:30 and 4pm today.
Also I birded the Mizzy Lake railway bed (several km's north of the Mizzy Lake
Trail entrance) on Arrowhon Rd. in Algonquin around noon and had 2 or 3 BOREAL
CHICKADEES with Michael Biro and friends.
P.S. the Algonquin CBC was BRUTAL!!!
