Hello

I still have one group to receive a report from, in the meantime here are some 
preliminary results from the St. Catharines Christmas Bird Count on Sunday 
December 20.

There were 50 participants this year and we counted 81 species plus a Harlequin 
Duck on count week. This was above average in terms of species and the highest 
number of individuals in 10 years. 

Record high counts

Canada Geese (4252)
Hooded Merganser (119)
American Wigeon (tie - 2; only the 5th count) 
Wild Turkey (138) 
Bonaparte's Gull (1025) 
Red-bellied Woodpecker (47) 
Carolina Wren (21) 
European Starling (12,654 - 2nd highest count)


Low counts
Ring-billed Gull (372 - lowest count in 24 years) 
Cedar Waxwing (16 - lowest count in 20 years)

Horned Lark

Unusual species
Snow Goose
Redhead
Ring-necked Duck
Black Scoter
Merlin
