Fourteen hours of observations today produced a modest 48 Whimbrels (all in the first and last hours of observation) in spite very good weather except for about an hour of dense fog in the early morning hours. Yesterday's total was 624.
The watch continues until this friday 28 May. We are still expecting a major surge either tomorrow or wednesday since at least 80% of Whimbrels are still in Virginia. Directions: The park is located off the south end of Col. Sam. Smith Drive, an extension of Kipling Avenue below Lakeshore.
