Weather: The day began cloudy with light winds out of the west. Winds picked up through the day and pushed out the cloud cover. Raptor Observations: Good weather conditions made for great flight conditions. This is our first real day of migration. We had 1,611 individuals counted out of 11 species. Non-raptor Observations: Shorebird migration continues, regardless of our lack of good shorebird habitat. Fly-by counts of 26 Black-bellied Plover, 3 Lesser Yellowlegs, and 1 Baird's Sandpiper. Predictions: Weather should continue to work in our favor and increase the number of raptors on the move. ======================================================================== Report submitted by Greg Norwood ([email protected]) SMRR- Lake Erie Metropark information may be found at: http://www.drhawkwatch.org _______________________________________________ ONTBIRDS is presented by the Ontario Field Ornithologists - the provincial birding organization.
