A great day to be outside and counting migrant raptors. Winds stayed moderate out of the west, and it just hot enough for some good thermals. Raptor Observations: Great weather led to our biggest day of the season, so far. 2,751 individuals where counted of 11 species. Highlights included 21 Bald Eagles, 498 Sharp-shinned Hawks, and a kettle of Broad-winged Hawks with 1,565. Non-raptor Observations: Predictions: Continuing good weather should lead to continuing good migration. ======================================================================== Report submitted by Greg Norwood ([email protected]) SMRR- Lake Erie Metropark information may be found at: http://www.drhawkwatch.org _______________________________________________ ONTBIRDS is presented by the Ontario Field Ornithologists - the provincial birding organization.
