Visitors:
We had a nice crowd today with more than 30 visitors.
Weather:
The morning was chilly with light winds out of the south east. Once it
warmed up in the afternoon and thermals started rising, birds where pushed
right over head.
Raptor Observations:
Our first major day of migration thanks to good south east winds.
Broad-winged Hawks are definitely on the move with 2,945 in one hour. High
numbers of Sharp-shinned Hawks continuously passed by and 230 where seen.
We also had an impressive late afternoon American Kestrel flight, and we
ended the day with 90.
Non-raptor Observations:
Predictions:
Tomorrow will be rainy and should probably keep birds down. The winds will
continue to move from the south east on Friday, but it will be a warmer
drier day. Friday should be the day for the high numbers.
