Weather: Good weather continued today with moderate winds from the south east. Cloud cover gave us a nice all day backdrop, and despite the threatening look of those clouds we did not experience any precipitation. All in all a good day to be out hawk watching. Raptor Observations: We had a good push today of all the expected species, only a fourth of Sunday's super push. Best migrant raptor today was a single juvenile Northern Goshawk that made a pass overhead at about 10am. Broad-winged numbers dropped but still contained over 10,000. We had a total of 10,619 for the day of 11 species. Non-raptor Observations: Predictions: Tomorrow is supposed to be hot and windy. Weathermen are predicting heat in the upper 80's and winds topping 30mph. The winds are supposed to shift from our great south east winds to south west winds. Which would push our migrants further north than we can see from our count site. Plus the high heat will create some tall thermals which makes it hard to spot high flying hawks. Rain is predicted Wednesday through Friday. ======================================================================== Report submitted by Greg Norwood ([email protected]) SMRR- Lake Erie Metropark information may be found at: http://www.drhawkwatch.org _______________________________________________ ONTBIRDS is presented by the Ontario Field Ornithologists - the provincial birding organization.
