Weather: Partly cloudy with light SW winds in the morning picking up to moderate NW in the afternoon. Temps. ranging from 16 to 21C. Raptor Observations: Raptors starting picking up in the early afternoon once the wind switched to NW with the majority of the flight being Sharp-shins and Turkey Vultures with a good showing of Harriers, Broad-wings, and Kestrels. Highlights were the season's first Red-shouldered Hawk (juv.) plus great looks at 2 juv. Peregrines. Non-raptor Observations: Blue Jays still on the move with 14,875 tallied thanks to the counting efforts of John Craft. Other notables included Black-bellied Plover, 2 Pectoral Sandpipers, 4 C. Nighthawks, 345 Tree Swallows, 2 Indigo Buntings, Scarlet Tanager, and 280 Am. Goldfinches. Predictions: Partly cloudy with a 30% chance of rain in the afternoon. Winds NW 10 km/hr. High of 19C.
