Observation start time: 07:00:00
Observation end time: 13:00:00
Total observation time: 6 hours

Official Counter: Colin Horstead

Observers: Dave Brown, Derek Lyon, Jennifer Lyon, Mark Cunningham,
                  Tom Bolohan

Visitors:
Today was supposed to be our special open house for "Doors Open Ontario -
Elgin County". Unfortunately, the weather made it nearly impossible to
setup for the event at Hawk Cliff...though we did have several visitors
stop by the site.

Weather:
Cold and miserable on the knoll today with fairly steady rain. Temp only
made it to a high of 10C but it felt colder in the moderate NE winds.

Raptor Observations:
Despite the rotten weather there were birds on the move today with a total
of 87 birds.

Non-raptor Observations:
The rain did bring one benefit with a fallout of passerines. There were
lots of warblers and kinglets in the surrounding trees...including Pine,
Blackpoll, Yellow-rumped, Black-throated Green and both kinglet species.
Several Yellow-bellied Sapsucker were spotted along with many Downie
Woodpeckers, several Red-breasted Nuthatch and a Brown Creeper. There were
also many sparrows with White-throated, White-crowned, Song and Lincoln's.
