Yesterday [October 4], Pine Siskins were reported for the first time this fall at 4 locations in Middlesex and Oxford Counties with 35 birds at Beachville, 15 at Ingersoll and singles at Harrietsville and London. Early this afternoon [October 5] 75 birds swarmed the cone-laden White Spruce at our place for only a few minutes before they moved on.

In his Winter Finch forecast Ron Pittaway suggested that we're likely only to get a small influx this fall. Hopefully, though, some of the birds moving through now will linger and brighten up our feeders this winter.
