This morning I birded 2 of the better GTA wetlands.

Cranberry Marsh
Hawk watch 9:30am to noon
on and off showers no breeze
migrant raptors 1 Sharp-shinned Hawk, 1 Osprey

also seen
1 Lesser Yellowlegs
1 Virginia Rail
1 Rusty Blackbird
13 Horned Grebe in Lake Ontario
16 species of waterfowl (182 birds) including 4 Northern Pintails,1 Bufflehead and 5 White-winged Scoters


Oshawa Second Marsh 12:30 to 1pm
light rain and light NE breeze

1 American White Pelican
1 Least Bittern right in front of the GM platform
1 Bald Eagle (2nd or 3rd year bird)
337 Blue Jays
680 waterfowl of 12 species. ( 290 American Wigeons, 25 Wood Ducks, 15 Northern Shovelers, 1 Redhead, 1 Ruddy Duck)
10 American Coots

Directions

Cranberry Marsh
1 block east of Lakeridge Rd. on Victoria St. in southwest Whitby,
turn south down Hall's Rd. toward the lakefront, parking in the second
roadside parking area.

Oshawa Second Marsh

Exit from the 401 at the Harmony Rd. Exit(419) in Oshawa. Go south on
Farewell St. Colonel Sam Drive. Turn East onto Colonel Sam Drive and follow
to the parking lot at the GM Headquarters. Park in the west parking lot
close to the marsh. The east (GM) platform is visible from the NW corner of
the lot.
