Weather: Today was all day cloudy and drizzly, though rain was short and patchy. Temperatures were warm topping off at 71f. Winds were consistent from the south west, but at times did not move at all. Raptor Observations: Raptor movement was slow, due to odd weather mixes. Sharp-shinned Hawks were the only hawks who did not seem disrupted by the weather, as 26 were counted. 1 Cooper's Hawks and 2 Northern Harriers were all the others there were. A total of 29 birds were counted of 3 species. Non-raptor Observations: Large numbers of Red-winged Blackbirds and Rusty Blackbirds pushed out today. No American Crow flocks were noted. American Goldfinches seem to be making a move out as a few hundred were noted following the other passerine flight paths. Predictions: Tomorrow is going to be a very interesting day. We are going to be hit by a huge and powerful thunderstorm. Winds are predicted to gust into the 60's. Tomorrow will be closed, unless there is a miracle switch in the storms path. ======================================================================== Report submitted by Greg Norwood ([email protected]) SMRR- Lake Erie Metropark information may be found at: http://www.drhawkwatch.org _______________________________________________ ONTBIRDS is presented by the Ontario Field Ornithologists - the provincial birding organization.
