Observation start time: 08:00:00
Observation end time: 16:00:00
Total observation time: 8 hours

Official Counter: Jim Pawlicki

Observers: Bob Pettit, Dorothy McLeer

Visitors:
Bob Pettit stopped in and helped out with the count along with Dorothy
McLeer who arrived in time for the last 3 Goldens of the day. Several park
visitors were around the tower as well with a few coming up to check out
the view.

Weather:
Foggy during the first hour after which things cleared, giving way to
mostly sunny skies and mild temps. Winds started off light N for the first
two hours before switching to light SSE.

Raptor Observations:
Another decent push of Red-tails with a few each of Harriers,
Red-shouldereds, and Cooper's Hawks in the mix. A few Turkey Vultures
continue to trickle by, while a single (light) Rough-leg drifted through
during the noon hour. Eagles continue to move in good numbers with 4 Balds
(subad., 2nd-yr., 2 juv.) and 13 Goldens (2 ad., subad., 10 juv.) tallied.
Given the continued south winds and mild temps. most birds passed through
well north of the tower but still close enough for decent scope views. The
other highlight of the day was the season's third (and second in the last
two days) dark morph (adult) Red-tailed Hawk that went by in loose company
of another Red-tail at 1:37.

Non-raptor Observations:
There was a fair amount of songbird activity around the tower compared to
the last few days with 2 Chipping Sparrows, Eastern Towhee, and
Ruby-crowned Kinglet joining the resident White-thr., Song, Swamp, and Am.
Tree Sparrows. A single Sandhill Crane went by in the afternoon, while
"local" flocks of Rusty Blackbirds continue to make passes by the tower.

Predictions:
Practically a continuation of the last few days with mild temps. (high of
14C), light SE winds, and early morning fog that should give way to partly
cloudy skies. Tomorrow's flight should be similar to today, although things
are setting up for a good push next week once the weather turns to cooler
temps. and north winds.
