While searching unsuccessfully for Purple Sandpipers at the lighthouse 5 km out on the Leslie Spit, a first year Gannet flew by going east almost overhead at 2:05 PM. The Leslie Spit is at the foot of Leslie St in Toronto but don't bother trying to see it because the bird is long gone. Hugh Currie
