Weather: Mostly cloudy with sunny periods. Winds were steady out of the WNW 14-16 km/hr with a high of 8C. Raptor Observations: A small flight of Red-tails along with a few Harriers and Cooper's Hawks, and singles of (1st-yr.) Bald Eagle, Sharp-shin, and Merlin. Two (juv.) Golden Eagles passed through at 11:28 and 12:20 with the first bird giving nice looks as it passed directly over the tower. Non-raptor Observations: The day's highlight was nice looks at a flock of 7 Sandhill Cranes as they passed low over the tower heading west. A nice flock of 8 Eastern Bluebirds worked their way from the trout pond to the tower with a few landing on the picnic bench and parts of the tower before taking off west over the marsh. Am. Goldfinches were on the move in the morning with 101 tallied. Predictions: Mostly sunny with SW winds SW 15 km/hr picking up to 30 in the afternoon. High of 8C.
