It eased up in the afternoon a bit, but a wall of fog hung over Canada and kept birds there from coming over. Cloud cover followed the same pattern as the wind, it went from a horribly cold day to a decent afternoon in the sun. Raptor Observations: Oddly the birds flight today was during the windy and cold part, and shut down completely when the sun came out. I believe the morning push were raptors who spent the night on the Michigan side of the river. While the afternoon held a fog wall over the Canadian side of the river, and most likely kept those birds from coming over. A total of 16 raptors were counted of 4 species. Non-raptor Observations: 42 Tundra Swans were counted in small groups heading south throughout the day. Predictions: Tomorrow is looking to be rainy, but warm. A rain system from the south will bring us temperatures near 60f, but all day scattered showers are possible. Here in the southern part of the state we will probably get quite a bit of this system. ======================================================================== Report submitted by Greg Norwood ([email protected]) SMRR- Lake Erie Metropark information may be found at: http://www.drhawkwatch.org _______________________________________________ ONTBIRDS is presented by the Ontario Field Ornithologists - the provincial birding organization.
