At 4.50 pm today I happened to be passing Schomberg Sewage Lagoons, located on 
Proctor one street south of the intersection at Highways 9 and 27, when I 
noticed the main gate was open.
A quick scan of the 2nd pond resulted in an American Avocet feeding in the 
shallows.
If the bird stays overnight, birders should check for it at dawn or near dusk 
tomorrow because the modernized lagoons have water/hydro employees actively 
working there daily all week (except Sundays) and the area is "off limits" to 
the public. In other words, you bird at your own risk !
